Got this recording some days ago and about the "ominous loud cracks" from the right front-channel in the multi-channel recording of the "Lustige Ouvertüre": Have the same problem twice times at 6 min. 12 sec. and 6 min. 18 sec. and it's really VERY loud(!) and no fun to hear.

The present reception by balance engineer Christoph Gronarz and digital editor Walter Platte of the WDR (West German broadcasting, Cologne) possesses a full and pleasantly “warm” sound with simultaneously good three-dimensional illustration of the recording room (Cologne philharmonic).

What a fantastic smooth, clear, transparent sound (listen to the clarinets and flutes!) and exciting interpretation of the symphonie and the overtures! What's going on with this recording?
I've tested TWO discs(!) of it and with TWO SACD-systems(!) and there's always the same terrible, scratching noise from the tweeter of the right surround channel. It's only in the multichannel track of this disc.
So it isn't a problem of the player. I've never ... more |
