A welcome addition to the pantheon of SA-CDs! While he was still at Eastman, Fennell set the standard by which all bands judged their performances of these "British Band Classics!" A trully first-rate performance by one of the world's great orchestras! This should certainly be in the collection of each and every Mahler fan! A wonderful recording AND a super transfer! Copland with Bernstein as his musical interpreter - who could ask for more?! Pure "Americana" (specially when one considers Mexico as ALSO "in America" - North America that is!) Appalachian Spring shines, and Rodeo makes one want to get up and dance! ... more

This Symphony by Mahler is a difficult one to pull off. Here we have expansive first and last movements.
