I fully concur--these are very powerful performances captured in a richly ambient hall. I vastly prefer the thick, rich tone of the cello in the Viola Sonata--it utterly transforms it into another piece. I haven't heard any competing versions, but I can scarcely imagine them being any better. Highly ...

No, this CD is not for the Sor or Bach-transcription fans out there! The first reviewer covers the music and performances well. I don't think the audio is as good as he does : Cicilia's guitar is a bit too distantly mic'd for my taste, and there is a considerable low-frequency rumble that fades ...

DId you two listen to the same recording? I agree that the piano is a bit dominant, but it is certainly a competent performance. Actually, the balances are rather representative of what one often hears in a live chamber concert. Of course, with the ability to "perfect" the balances under studio ...

To elaborate a bit, this is easily one of the finest piano recordings I have heard. It has tremendous presence and clarity without thrusting the listener under the lid. There is a nice amount of air around the instrument, too. The performances are excellent, as well. Edelmann does not pound the ...
