I have played this SACD solidly for two weeks hoping I would like it. sadly it is a disappointment. The sound just seems muffled and slightly compressed. The Band recorded this using a 24 track console, and added string instruments, synthesisers, loops etc. It was very high tech for them at the time. Sadly like most great bands I think they were past their peak and going through the motions when they recorded this album. You could use words like OK ... more

I had never heard the entire album before I brought this SACD.Really only heard loud CD versions of the hits "Taking it to the Streets" and "Minute by Minute". I always enjoyed the cruisey sound of the Doobies. It harks back to a time where bands wrote their own songs and weren't afraid to experiment with different genres of music. This album showcases all that was good and bad with "progressive rock" in the early 1970's. The album is a mixture of long, epic ballads like The Musical Box and shorter, harmonic songs like Harequin.
