There are of course several releases of this classic album. In my opinion, this is the one that you want: the hybrid Japanese release. Separation, texture, and that "coming out of the speakers" effect... you know what I mean. Louis's vocals (especially) "float." Superb, and in the original mono. Why ... more

MoFi does it again.... Just like the self-titled release, this one is fabulous. UNLIKE the self-titled release, this one is a "crank-it-up" title! (Even at high volumes, the horns are astounding.) Man, I love SACD!

In my opinion, this release is the biggest "no-brainer" on this site. I have a good, but moderately priced, system: Oppo player, Onkyo receiver, Bose speakers... nothing that would be the equivalent of a new car :-) At least on my system (and especially with headphones), this release is ... more

Japanese hybrid release. Outstanding, just like "In a Silent Way." Yes, it's stereo, not multichannel... doesn't matter. Fantastic release (especially with headphones)!

Japanese release... ARE there any bad Japanese Miles Davis SACDs? Definitely not this one, which is superb. Crystal clear sound, great definition, outstanding and tasteful use of surrounds, texture, separation... the total package.
