I really like the concept of this record company: they set up a single stereo microphone in an acoustic space (in this case, a church) and let it rip. I agree with the above reviewer. The sonic texture is great - very netural and un-forced. There is, however, a little bit of an edge missing though.

Of course, Nat King Cole is something else. Probably one of the best vocalists of all time. For those of you unfamiliar with recording technology history, the 50s was a total crapshoot in terms of quality. The original master tape of this album sounded just bad - particularly the muddy tone the rolled off treble. This disc goes back to the original session tapes (which sound much much better) and remixes them, taking the liberty of adding some reverb and a bit of limiting. However I'm willing to ... more
