I don't know that it gets any better than this. Absolutely NO comparison to the HDTracks version (which was veiled and dry sounding). Very accurate tonal rendering and a nice high end. A great show piece for the awesome sound of Analogue Productions. Tonality is very accurate, warm and inviting. Nothing digital or artificial about it! The rendering of low level detail (such as the reverb of the room it's recorded in) just adds to this sonic ecstasy.

Sonics are alright. Better than your average redbook CD, but the tonality of the tracks is all rather dry and artificial. I don't know how else to say it and I'm honestly not sure what I'm hearing.

The prize sonic gems of this disc are tracks 1, 2, 3 and 7, which were all recorded at Chess Records. Holy cow!!! Bob Ludwig knows what he's going. The remasters were done end-to-end in DSD (he used analog EQ and the like). On the Chess songs, Everything is really tight and snappy, not to mention ... more

Genuine DSD and no trace of limiting. This album is dynamic as all get out. A little bit more "space" than the other releases. However, it's still got smeared sonics plus a rather muddy and overbearing low end. As I mentioned before, I really wish someone like Steve Hoffman would do these albums ... more
