These performances have been around on Sony's Essential Classics series for a while - the sound on this stereo non-hybrid SACD is a clear improvement with little or no hiss and a wide dynamic range. I have been comparing this (non-hybrid, stereo-only) Sony SACD with the old Sony/CBS CD set - the 2 discs Maestro series from 1990, I've never heard a more recent Essential Classics CD incarnation c/w some Ormandy Wagner. There is precious little Schumann piano music on SACD - but this is disappointing artistically. Pletnev is a master pianist, but this is probably his worst recording, although the sound per se is superb.
