|For about ten years ago PentaTone laughed its RQR series, which contains 1970s Philips Classics recordings on multi-channel SACD. Now they do it again, but today with Deutsche Grammophon. This series title is REMASTERED CLASSICS.
There were many four-channel recordings in 1970s, but the technology wasn't so good that music lovers could enjoy them. PentaTone's remasteresting is very good: sound is natural and pure, and recording surrounds listener. Tamas Vasary's excellent performances aren't change, but now they sounds much better. For example The Coronation Concerto's slow movement is lovely and delightful.
This series' next releases are Bizet's Carmen (Bernstein) and Berlioz's Faust (Ozawa). I'm looking forward...
Highly recommend, indeed!
