Here is a welcome edition that makes us discover two young talents, that of the alto Dana Zemtsov and that of the pianist Catheljine Noorland. The chosen program includes the Sonata for Alto and Piano by Henri Vieuxtemps (1820-1881), the Suite “1919” for alto and piano by Ernest Bloch (1880-1959), Carmen Fantaisie by Georges Bizet (1838-1875), Franz Waxman (1906-1967), and Mikhail Kugel (1946), as well as Melody in a Old Style for Alto and Piano by Evgeni Zemtsov, born in 1940 and grandfather of Dana, who states: “The nostalgic style in which this modern piece has been composed (it dates from 1968), with its lyrical melody, ornamented in the baroque style, which imposes itself on fresh and contrasted harmonies, is only one of the reasons to admire it.” With fervor and passion, Dana Zemtsov and Catheljine Noorland impregnate these works with a lyricism that is applied with moderation, during which the inspiration of their musical discourse is pure enchantment. The soundscape is a veritable incarnation of the tones in presence that the exemplary sound recording fully supports. But the career of these two young artists is only beginning. Let us bet that it will offer other musical moments of quality, all to the pleasure of music lovers.
