#THIS IS MULTI-CHANNEL# This is one of TREX,s classic albums, and as the sleeve say you feel as if you are in a middle of a circle surrounded by the band, all sorts of numourous instuments popping up in different speakers, a good all round production, but maybe its for the true Bolan fan as the music varies from Rock to slow accustics, give it a go you may like it.this is a MULTI-CHANNEL disc.

I got this sa-cd expecting to hear the ultimate version of "Get it On". I have this song in several cd compilations though never had the album Electric Warrior.

Listening to the multi-channel mix, I was very impressed by every song. The album is very strong from start to end. The album lyrics have repeating themes and so do the songs in their use of types of musical instruments. Marc Bolan's voice is clear and deep. The acoustic guitars have that warm strum you don't get from regular cd.

However when I got to the song Get it On, I was utterly disappointed. The guitar, bass and drum which in my opinion make the song so great were not dominant and driving. The song seemed slower, almost like a lounge version. It was like a remake rather than a remix. There was even a different ending than I had known.

A few multi-channel listens later, I then listened to the 2 channel version. Here was the holy grail version of Get it On! Slicing guitars, heart pounding drums, energetic voice! And the usual fading ending. What a sound and what a version. The other songs (which I hadn't known before) also had a more rock sound.

Surprisingly, having not heard the other songs before, I prefer the multi-channel version of those songs, but the 2-channel version of Get it On. Go figure!

This also makes it hard to rate the sa-cd. I am rating it as a combination of the best of multi-channel and 2 channel, since they are both available and accessible on this one sa-cd.

I have to agree with the previous reviews saying how the multichannel tracks are really L/C/R oriented. Don't get me wrong the surrounds are apparent just not aggressively mixed at all. More for ambiance I feel. The front sound stage just sounds so full and clear, awesome instrument separation. I'm a huge fan of this SACD. I'm not sure if I agree with Get It On being a really slow version but regardless I think it sounds awesome, very full sound. I'd like to compare the new SHM-SACD stereo to the 2003 stereo but I don't have any desire to get it, this MCH is awesome. Only reason why I'm not giving it a full five stars is because it would be a little nicer if the surrounds were a little more existing, but overall the sound quality and fullness of the stage is awesome. Highly recommended if you can get your hands on a copy.

It should be mentioned that the Stereo SACD layer is actually just upconverted 44.1/16 PCM (verified by analysis of 88.2/24 rips on a spectogram).
