Just a quick note on this record, since nobody reviewed it so far. This record has been a huge hit in France (where it sits in the top 10 electronica best sellers since 2002) and to a lesser extent in Europe.

Gotan is Tango written backwards, and this record is a lot of fun. It's a crossover between electronica dance music (with a lot of dub influence and effects) and pure tango, with a good mix of electronics and traditional instruments. All tracks are excellent, but the most famous are Tryptico and Santa Maria (del Buen Ayre). In fact, this record is very addictive and once you start playing it, it tends to stay on your deck for a few weeks, if not months.

For those interested in this project, there have been many excellent concerts, with a recent CD set called Inspiracion / Espiraction, which provides a lot of remixes and live tracks.

The sound is (I think) better than the CD, but still compressed so don't expect miracles. The MCH version is slightly on the dull side and I would have liked more discrete rear effects for a record which bears evident dub influences. But still, the front channels of the MCH mix are very good in my vieww.

Very highly recommended, not really for the sonics, but for the music. Probably one of the most fun SACDs to have... enjoy.

A great album, but watch out for the killer bass. You might annoy the neighbours!
