A very nice DVD/SACD set. It's good to watch the performance because it helps to enhance the listening experience of the SACD.

The video of the concert performance is good but a little disconcerting. It's strange to hear the strings behind you while they are spotlighted by the video in front of you.

As best as I can tell both surround mixes, DVD and SACD, are identical. They put you within the band. Roy is front and center and all guitar solos are up front. Background vocals, strings and such are spread around all channels.

Roy's voice didn't change much from his hit making days and as a result this is probably the only disc of his music most people would need since it has all his big hits.

The sonics of the SACD are very good, a lot of detail and a balanced sound. I didn't compare the DVD sonics to the SACD sonics since I listen to them on different systems.

I've enjoyed this disc more than I expected. My reference was the original VHS of the video and I didn't think much of it.

Highly recommended.

Pulled this one out last night - hadn't played it in a few years. I must say this is one of the best examples of "rock" SACD's I have come across. Great imaging, nice bass, good soundstage and Roy's voice is mixed to be front, center and a little high without burying the band behind him. Speaking of the band, what a lineup! T Bone gets a nod here for pulling it all together - a precursor his other production efforts. While the DVD of this show is likely still widely available, the SACD might just become a nice collectable due to it's historic nature, much less the great performance.
