In my opinion, this is the best Living Stereo remaster. If you are going to buy one, this should be it. The performance is definitely one of the best ever, if not THE best. Sound quality is near perfect with the glory of simple mic technique really coming through in pinpoint soundstaging and a general ease and spaciousness that you hear in a real hall. I don't think live recordings get much better than this. Sadly, we have added so much technology to recordings nowadays (and performances just don't seem to measure up), it takes this pre-1960s recording to show how it's really done.

This is simply beautiful... One of the immortal Verdi performances, in style and the voices are phenomenal. Most opera houses would be hard-pressed to cast a Traviata this well, at the present. DO NOT MISS... Find a used copy and be MOVED. This is the best this classic recording will ever sound. Too bad RCA Living Stereo did not issue the Schippers Forza del Destino, also.
