I like most of the cuts on this soundtrack. I wish they would have deleted the first track. I now skip over it. Now that I think about it, it's good that it's the first track--much easier to skip over.

I agree with Tom - skip the first track and enjoy the rest. There are a couple of other tracks that sound "vintage" but the modern recordings range from more than adequate for SACD to top drawer.

One standout is Allison Krauss singing the hymn "Down to the River to Pray."

While I was a bit discomforted watching the movie, which I felt was too snarky, the soundtrack lets the music speak on its own and better conveys the time and place for movie.

Too bad it is single layer.

This is a wonderfully detailed SACD. Some don't like the first song, because it't not a regular song, sounds more like an Indian chant. But I like it because it sounds so incredibly real and detailed, its like their singing right in front of you. Most of the songs are very good but the sonics are extremely good. If you like these songs or liked the movie, you won't be disappointed.
