I really like this SACD. The performance is outstanding. It gets more rotation than 90% of my SACDs. The cuts from the original album are recorded quite well. I like all the original cuts--particularly Blues Pt. 2 and Variations which were not single hits. It's also nice that Columbia added over twenty bonus minutes of a live concert even though it wasn't recorded well. Still, I find the bonus tracks listenable. Gives one an idea of how BS&Ts sounded live.

This SACD makes me so very happy that I got a SACD-compatible system! The sound here is much crisper, richer and more spacious than the regular CD.You've never heard songs like "Spinning Wheel","You've Made Me So Very Happy","And When I Die" and "God Bless The Child" sound as good until you've heard them here. The disc also includes two live performences not previously available.

I just received a slightly-different SA-CD issue of this album. The UPC is 074646398661. Previous reviewers are correct ... this is THE BEST sounding release of Blood Sweat & Tears. Since this is NOT a hybrid SA-CD, I'll need to keep my old CD version for car-play etc. Adding those 2 crappy-sounding "Bonus Tracks" to this SA-CD seems pointless. Those "live" versions would not even be listenable on ear-buds. What were they thinking??? Yes, it seems expensive for a non-hybrid SA-CD but the reward is in the listening enjoyment.

We auditioned this on my reference (flat +/- 1.5 dB from 20-20kHz) SA-CD quad system. Thank God that nobody has messed with the EQ or mix; it is EXACTLY like the original but with more dynamic range. Subtle nuances, which were masked in previous CD and Cassette releases, are readily discernable. Vocals are so clean that you feel David Clayton-Thomas is in the room. Tape master hiss is noticable during several quiet passages. This is GOOD! Nobody attempted to "digitally remove" the hiss which ALWAYS ruins sonic quality.

5 WOWS !!!!!

Not a bad transfer by any means. However, the MFSL SACD version had considerably better sonics (tighter bass, drums, etc.)
