This is an excellent SHM-SACD of one of the great albums of all time. No need to review the content as this is a legendary album and anyone who would buy, or consider buying, the SHM-SACD of this album is certainly familiar with it. The sound quality is excellent: crisp, clean and detailed. It's so detailed that you can hear Rod licking his lips and taking a breath before starting the vocals on "That's All Right"...at least you can in headphones. The acoustic guitars are lush and beautiful, the bottom is nice and fat and the drums sound very real. This disc is absolutely the definitive version of this album. The packaging is also top-notch. To my knowledge it's the first SHM-SACD to come in a box with a mini-lp jacket inside.

To echo the previous reviewer (cooltype937) and to go one step beyond.........You have NEVER heard Every Picture Tells A Story until you've "experienced" the beauty and solidity of Universal's SHM~SACD remaster.

A few months ago, I purchased a two~fer EU RBCD remaster of both EPTAS and Gasoline Alley. Even on my Meridian SooLoos, it sounded pinched and lackluster (both remasters).

The SHM~SACD is full bodied with added separation, bass and the drums sound spectacular. The stringed instruments are way up front and in your face.

I have NO idea if the SHM~SACD compound has any thing to do with the sonics, but to my ears, a total revelation...as close to the original analogue master tapes as one is likely to get!

Every Picture Tells a Story Limited Edition, Super Audio CD - DSD, Import
2013 SHM SACD reissue of 1971 album is absolutely stunning. I know this disc like the back of my hand having owned every original version starting with the LP. This Japanese release is it for me and I do not feel the need to ever purchase another. Performance of Rod and gang is stellar, obviously to be #172/500 albums of all time. How this stereo recording comes to you quiet and mellow with definite heavy rock and roll punch is brilliant. No need to adjust any of my equipment just came out perfect. I absolutely love the little Japanese boxes with all the mini replica album stuff, liner notes, etc. Very interesting liner notes, including Rod saying he forgets the name of the mandolin player. I cranked very loud on "I Know I'm Losing You" best at end with drums, amazing. I couldn't be happier to own such a fine recording. This is a 176.4Khz/24 bit transferred from DSD. 2 channel stereo only. It's so great I want to keep writing but better for you to find out on your own.
