Mofi does it again! This recording has been brought to life by Mofi. Always one of my favorite Doobies recordings. Very refreshing to listen to. Takes me back! Thanks Mofi!

As an inconditional fan of the Doobies like me, this is a must have sacd but, in this case, I found them at a less inspirational recording moment compensed by the "Take Me In Your Arms (Rock Me A Little While)" track.
Like all Mobile Fidelity's (MoFi) sacds that I own I found the output level approximately 3dB weaker than the output level of the other labels. Where's the reason for this?

Some Doobie fans have commented that this album is not quite up to the usual quality of the band. I respectfully disagree. I just don't hear it. While one of the founding members had to get rehab.....the band did a remarkable job. Not only is this a really good Doobie Brothers album it is also beautifully recorded.

What I like is that they experimented and added some additional flavoring to their songs. There is certainly a country feel to several tracks, a touch of jazz and funk..and to top it off a smidgen of bluegrass. I particularly like the way the synths are used to sound like strings.

Its all good with Stampede as an album. Its awesome.

Mofi did a fantastic job with this sacd. It has a terrific analogue feel to it. Its also very natural sounding as well.
Unlike some of the Doobie sacds there is awesome separation of the instruments and voices.much more than on some of the other Mofi Doobie sacds. Ohhhh......don't get me wrong. Mofi did great on all the sacds but this one is special.
Bass, voices and all instruments seem to have their respective places. There is even some 3d type parts that come out of the mix the way that the best recordings do.Like drum rolls or acoustic guitars.

To make a long story short this is a fantastic sacd. From start to finish. I am a huge fan of this sacd.

Highly recommended. Mr. Loverde deserves credit here. Outstanding job.

Play it really loud.

The Doobie Brothers: Stampede Hybrid SACD Stereo Only.

Even though I like it hard and heavy and I don't like too much country music, I very much love rock music with a country twang. Stampede is one of those recordings. I compare to Elton John's Tumble Weed Connection, Rod Stewart's Gasoline Alley and The Rolling Stones Exile on Main Street.

Another stellar MOFI stereo reissue. My #01496. Originally released in 1975 and this is it for Tom Johnston for awhile do to health issues.

Performance: Super Duper, love it. I feel at home listening to this disc. Can you believe it they actually got Curtis Mayfield to arrange strings and horns on Track 4 Music Man. All of the Doobie's albums come with a host of guests, this disc also includes Maria Muldaur and Ry Cooder. Very relaxing.

Stereo Sonics: The relaxing vibe continues on the sonics. This one disc has a couple flat moments, not great separation. This is just the way it is and turning volume up is a simple correction. Twin acoustic guitars on track 5, is sonic brilliance. Highly enjoyable from beginning to end.

Packaging: Cardboard gatefold mini LP. Opens to a photo with musician and recording notes including MOFI release notes 2013.

Take me in Your Arms and Rock me a little while.
