The bottom end of this release is nice and deep and tight, no mud here. Everything seems to be exactly where it should be. If you are a Lobos fan, you will be pleased with this. I think this is the forth MOFI SACD by Los Lobos and I am surprised that it took them so long to get around to this one but the wait has been worth it. MOFI has been releasing from a wide range lately. Los Lobos, Sinatra, Hall and Oates, etc. It is nice to see them not focusing on a small sub genre. The vocals are really crisp and right in the front. Great job.

Odds are if you bought this sacd, you are already familiar with one of the finest albums by Los Lobos, one of America's greatest bands. As has been said elsewhere, "Kiko" is the "Sgt. Pepper's" of the Los Lobos canon. Having owned this album on vinyl, redbook cd and cassette I must say that this is absolutely the definitive version of this masterpiece. I have never experienced super producer Mitchell Froom's work in such high fidelity. This recording is chock full of delightful and exquisite ear candy that augments and elevates the already stellar playing and songwriting. For the first time we get to truly experience the songs as they were meant to be heard. Every detail is crystal clear and sounds fantastic. The astonishing stereo imaging really enhances the listening experience. Mobile Fidelity did an outstanding job mastering this disc from the original master tapes. It has quickly become one of my favorite stereo reference sacds.
