I just got this and I am entirely in agreement with Edvin's review. But, the superb and very natural sounding sonics are also quite evident in Mch. To this point, I had been totally unaware that the great Proprius label was making SACDs, but they are definitely on my radar screen now. Things like Jazz at the Pawnshop, Cantate Domino, etc. were among the best LPs in my collection sonically. Glad to see them continuing the tradition on Mch SACD.

Plus, the music and performances here are sublime, mostly joyful and spirited and a great pleasure to listen to. Claudio Monteverdi, whose music dominates this disk, has been on my personal top 10 list of great composers for quite some time.

I am glad to hear someone start a discussion of Claudio and music of the late renaissance & early baroque. For some reason, I feel this music really suits the hot weather of summer. Maybe it's a Mediterranean thing. There is nothing better than having a glass of wine & watching the sunset to this music.

I love this disc as well. Fantastic sound and performance. Even Johan van Veen gave it a very positive review. (And that is saying something ;-) However; he did have a problem with Lena-Susanne Norin's rendition of "Lamento della ninfa"...saying he found it a bit bland. On first hearing, I kind of felt the same. (Rossana Bertini's performance with Rinaldo Alessandrini has long been a favorite of mine.). But, after subsequent listenings Susanne Norin won me over with her tender performance. Simply a wonderful SACD!

Proprius's other SACDs are excellent as well. If you like this type of early vocal music, I can enthusiastically recommend:

Passio Sanctarum Filiarum - Vox Silentii and

The Night of Light - Vox Silentii

Vox Silentii is a female ensemble consisting of 2 women: Johanna Korhonen & Hilkka-Liisa Vuori

Here they are performing "Helena Vesgocie" from "Passio Sanctarum Filiarum" on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EanMto3refQ
