Well done Pentatone and/or Polyhymnia : a hole on the first track (forget it !) at 1'08, 1'38 and 3'18 on multichannel and on stereo SACD layer moreover at 1'38 and 3'18 (but not on CD layer).

No comment. Listening to catch other ones ?

Thanks for the praise.

The authored master we send to the factory is ok. Just checked your times. You could try to get a replacement from the shop you bought it from, as it could be a one off problem.

Hope you like what else you do hear and that you manage to get a good working SA-CD which you should.

Tested on 2 SACD players (Pioneer DV610 + Oppo BDP 83).

Not sure the little shop could test the problem. Moreover they are out of stock with this title.

A problem on the printing of this disc maybe. If you say it is not on every disc.

Otherwise, top notch sound (even if a little shy orchestra).

Mr Groot, bravo for your work in many recordings.

I am very happy you personnally answered, proofing the care and attention you are taking on your work.

I am always looking for Polyhymnia records as often as I can.

Is it an original DSD recording ?

Where can I find the listing of your records on different labels (Pentatone, Caro Mitis, Ondine...).

It is strange to me that the drop outs you describe in the DSD layer are also in the same place in stereo and in surround, as those are different areas on the disc. I think if you send a mail to Pentatone I think they might have a solution.

The recording was made in Hilversum in the wonderful studio in the MCO. A great venue where for instance Jean-Marie recorded the Rimsky disc for Pentatone with RNO and Pletnev, which really sounds terrific. It was done in the earlier days of our DSD recordings in DSD 8 channel. I quite like the combination of Carel and his group, with the real classical players of the Concertgebouw chamber orchestra.

We will have to make time to put such a list on website. Priorities :-)) Labels are ok, with the omission of the Royal Concertgebouw of course, which are also all done by Polyhymnia.

I edited my first message : indeed there is one dropout on the multichannel of track 1 and 3 on the stereo layer.

Thanks for your explanations.

I'll try to contact Pentatone and tell you what they will decide.

Pentatone contacted by mail on their site. No answer, never ever.

They don't care about their clients or are on big holidays...

Anywere, they are not afraid for piracy. With such a client attention, it could happen.

I have to retire my critics against Pentatone. Indeed they didn't answered my request by e-mail, but I received yesterday a new copy of the same Pentatone disc with same problems on same timings on my 2 differents SACD players.

So I presumed it could possibly come from my amplifier Pioneer SC-LX71 with the DSD conversion. I setted the input of my SACDs player on PCM instead of DSD and it worked fine, without the hole on the sound.

I only wondered why Pentatone printed again the same recording with different picture under the PTC 472 321-2 reference ?

I'll answer them about this particuliar bug on Pioneer SC-LX71 amplifiers and maybe others from the same serie or converters for their database.

Thanks for your reaction Pentatone and see you soon.

Gilles, I do not have the same disc but I have experienced similar 'drop-out' on other SACDs using my OPPO/Marantz combo. It is completely random however. I decided it was probably a 'handshake' issue. It does not happen often enough to make me want to investigate. I think your problem is different as it occurs at the same point each time. I hope you find a solution.

Yes, I also know some random dropout, but never happened on same timing at each playing until this bug.

Indeed as I told you, I have to listen that disc (or should I tell this track) on PCM over HDMI from my player to my amplifier instead of DSD stream over HDMI.

However, I lose a little of quality, as my amplifier converters seems to be better.

I would be curious to know if the problem is the same with the new edition PTC 472 321-2. Maybe Pentatone could send it to me. I would tell you if there is a difference between those 2 masterings.

Thanks for listening.
