Discussion: Sam Cooke: Tribute to the Lady

I've read the atrocities involved with poor mastering of the Redbook of this Sam Cooke. Tribute to the Lady album.
Such as skips on certain tracks, distortion, sibilence, off speed, and even poor placement of the centered hole on the LP!

With all the horrible reporting, I was still intrigued about the SACD, and was wondering if there is special attention paid to the Hi Rez version.

I'm not too sure if this is new SACD or if just an older circulating copy, as I've seen Amazon selling it way out the hemispheric price range, but have seen it to a more earthly reachable cost.
This is where I'm a bit confuse and has push me to do more research on this particular disc.

Thank you in advance for any information.

According to AmazonUK, this will be re~released as an SACD on October 14, 2013. Since I have all the other Sam Cooke SACDs from ABKCO and one reissued by AP, I pre~ordered it.

I believe the RBCD in question which you cited was on a label called Hallmark and was probably not mastered from reliable sources.

Click onto the AmazonUK site from the link supplied on SA.CD.net and you can verify my findings. Just hope it is an SACD.

Thanks, I'm hoping it's an actual SACD too as I just received 3 Sam Cooke disc which were suppose to be SACD but aren't :(.
Either way I'll keep an eye out on the UK site, and keep my fingers cross.

Cheers

I ordered Sam Cooke: At the Copa from this site's links twice (once from JPC, once from the french Amazon) and received only RBCDs as well.
If you look carefully, almost every link leads to a CD product.

Given what you say, same problem with other Sam Cooke SA-CDs.

Can "PollyNomial" John do something about it ?

If it's the same problem as with other ABKCO SACD reissued as CDs with the same reference number, it's difficult for (large) stores to fix this. They would need to check the discs individually to see what kind of format it is.

I've since canceled my order since I'm sure it's not an SACD and visiting the Sam Cooke fan club website, it is also NOT considered one of his best creations (actually, it's pretty much despised).
