And it's only $313 from Amazon...

Why doesn't Harmonia Mundi just release these directly themselves on SACD? What are KING International adding to the party?

Harmonia Mundi releases many new recordings as hi-rez downloads, including this one.

I don't want downloads. Don't buy them.
Since Harmonia Mundi also release lots of SACDs, ... such as the excellent new Rene Jabobs St Matthews Passsion,
Bach: St Matthew Passion - Jacobs
... and very reasonably priced ... one wonders why these Isabelle Faust (Bach and Beethoven) recordings would be spun off to someone else? Maybe KING International just wanted marketing rights in Japan or similar and offered some money to HM for that?

Hi Colin, just a quick note that HM don't release lots of SACDs, - I think the Bach is the first for several years+. It may be HM USA you're thinking of, who remain active recording in DSD and releasing as hybrids.

Hi Nucaleena ... I wasn't making a distinction between HM and HM USA. Their recent SACD releases:
/titles/0/164/date/25/1
... which I found quite interesting, as I have missed some of them, and might give them a try.

This recording can be obtained far less expensively as a 24-bit download.
