A request for information to Tower Records US was met with the response that the first 5 of these 7 classics will be available in SACD format in the UK ~ April 3, 2006. It is hoped they will be released later this summer in the US. In the meantime, I understand amazon UK and some of the other online companies are taking advance orders.

This music was the gold standard for lush musical adventures. The layers of sounds of rock instruments and rhythms frosted with orchestral and synth interludes made this band's work ideal for headphone listening. With multichannel SACDs headphones would likely lessen the enjoyment.

I have been waiting for these disks since they were first hinted about on the Moody News a year ago.

Is "In Search Of The Lost Chord" multichannel or not? It's showing as multichannel on this site and some others. I know this has been rehashed forever. But can this be true? Did they finally find a quad mix to work from?

I read an interview with Hayward and he said that it was in two channel.

Well, we have some over at steve hoffman's site saying the remasterings aren't that good, but of course we have most of the people complaining who only listen in 2 channel. Message for you 2 channel people: this was made in quad and released in quad to take advantage of the possibilities that SACD affords. Personally, I don't care what it sounds like in 2 channel.

There you are being uncaring again! The Moody Blues SACDs have both a 2 channel Stereo high resolution layer and a multi-channel high resolution layer except for In Search of the Lost Chord which appears to be 2 channel Stereo only. THERE IS NO EXCUSE TO SCREW UP THE 2 CHANNEL HIGH RESOLTION LAYER, NONE WHATSOEVER! And if they did Universal will be exposed on my website!

I was alive then and collecting music when these Moody Blues recordings were first issued and they were released in both 2 Channel STEREO and 4 channel QUAD!

Happy listening,
Teresa

Ooh, I'm "uncaring". Next I'll be called the ultimate in Teresa's litany of insults and be told I'm "being mean and silly." As if your website means squat! The multichannel is what most here have been waiting for. 2 channel is nice, but 4 channel is best here.

It's still no excuse to screw up the 2 channel high resolution program. Don't forget first and foremost SACD is a high resolution format that can also offer multi-channel when it exists. Which by the doesn't on In Search of the Lost Chord. Are you not buying In Search of the Lost Chord because it only has 2 channel stereo?

And I beg to differ I think more SACD owners buy for the 2 channel Stereo program as I believe we outnumber you multi-channel newcomers. And we believe 2 channel is best here!

Happy listening,
Teresa

This is a world made up of home theaters that greatly outnumber those of you who have stayed behind in the two-channel world. From movies to music, home theater and music has made obsolete your obsession with 2 channel. I'm buying ISOALC because initially I thought it was multichannel, but I'll compare this with the MFSL release and see which of those two are better.

Who's "we"? People here are free to enjoy the stereo program, multichannel program or both. I'm glad to have the capability to listen to both (though on separate systems) and make up my own mind which discs work best where. Maybe you should make an effort to widen YOUR options. If however you want to wage a silly stereo-only crusade, take it elsewhere.
