I am hoping someone will be able to review this soon. Particularly to comment on the MC sound and compare to the van Zweden.

I know this might not be construed as helpful in some quarters, but please note that the classic Decca '65 Britten/Vishnevskaya/Pears/Fischer-Dieskau is available on Blu-Ray Audio and 24/96 download.

As a performance, it still sweeps all before it. And the 24/96 remastering is damn good - infinitely superior to the botched job done on contemporaneous EMIs.

It remains one of the classic, definitive recordings of the 20th Century. As for why it never made it to SACD? I guess you'll have to ask Universal...

There is no indication AFAIK that this is multichannel recording nor the other two Warners have planned/released.
