Does anyone know why this is taking so long to get released? According to Amazon UK, it won't come out until November 30, 2014! (Amazon US doesn't even list it at all.) It doesn't show up on Linn's site, either.

I was wondering the same thing, so I sent them an email on Monday. Still no reply. Maybe they are backed up with the holidays. Or... Maybe they just don't know when it will be released. I will let you know if I hear anything.

Update:

I just heard from LINN that the Corelli Opus 1&3 is due for release in March 2014.

Let's hope everything goes smoothly.

Great, thanks for the update. All of their Corelli discs have received universal praise, so I couldn't understand why they were withholding this one.

Agreed.

It's nice to see that they are going beyond the Violin sonatas op.5 and Concerti Grossi op.6.

With Op. 1&3, I think they'll pretty much complete the chamber music. It's a shame that he wasn't more prolific.

And... Corelli wouldn't even allow his Op.6 to be published during his lifetime.

Well, fortunately for him... he had the warm and generous support of wealthy patrons, so he might not have felt the pressure to compose continuously. He died a rich man. I would love to have seen his art collection. ;-)

Fortunately for us, he did teach a whole new generation of gifted composers... Geminiani, Locatelli, and of course Vivaldi.

I think it's wonderful that the Avison Ensemble and LINN have given us this collection Corelli's music on SACD. With 2013 being the tricentennial of his death, it is an excellent tribute to his genius.

Lute--I see that you have DALI speakers--so do I, as I just bought a pair of Epicon 2's...wow!

Epicons!? Oh... I'm jealous. ;-) That series has gotten rave reviews.

But I still love my Helicons. I finally got a copy of Wagner: Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg - Janowski this week. And my DALIs sound fantastic with such a big work ...as well as with Corelli's more intimate sonatas. I'll be interested to hear what you think of them.

I love them. They are incredibly revealing without x-raying the music like electrostats do, so to my ear they are more musical. Basically, they just disappear and leave the music for one to enjoy.
