Some people here seem to know everything, even without experiment. I have only to to write "perhaps" or "it might be" and I get accused of dogmatism.

Word. There's nothing "subtle" or anything that demands platinum ears or a $$$,$$$.$$ investment in kit to immediately hear the difference betwixt stereo and multichannel; it's immediate, unmistakable -- no straining or training required. And it's obvious even with a crappy $300 home theater in a box.

Budget constraints and/or space limitations are valid deterrents to a multichannel set~up but commenting that multichannel is hogwash without ever experiencing it firsthand in one's own domicile is another story altogether.

And while we're on the subject, The Absolute Sound's Recommended Components for 2014 include my beloved Shakti Stones, Shakti Holograms, Shunyata Research Power conditioners and power cords (and even Ultra Bit Polish for ALL disc enhancement) for the "scientists" on this site who constantly chide me for such "wasteful" usage and hocus pocus..........

My advice: screw the science and enjoy the benefits, FIRSTHAND.........ALL the pseudo scientists among you!

When you turn your "mineshaft" into a proper "man cave," Euell, replete with surround, shakti stones, holograms and start polishing your discs and outfit said equipment with state of the art power cords and conditioners, then, and only then, will the WEST 'truly' be WON!

Stop giving your mind the shaft by convincing yourself otherwise!

And you can start by issuing the skunks eviction notices!

"Dearly" departed, Euell and probably enjoying a LIVE concert by Claudio Abbado and Company in SURROUND!

BTW, Gabby and 'Moms' Mabley send their regards, Euell, and Liberace has taken up the Electric sitar...and has just completed his "Rhapsody in Pink" for sidekick Pinky Lee!

Bit harsh rammiepie, science seeks only to explain. I know (Jim Wagner) that the beneficial effects of your tweaking are real from my own experience. It's up to science to explain why not try to disprove your sanity.

Then then again, hiredfox, it's users like you which lend credence to my enhancements by proving their worth. That, IMO, is more scientific than NO science at all.

Part of the fun of our hobby is improving what we already have without investing in new players, pre/pros or amps which, IMHO, is more costly than some of the enhancements themselves.

By adding the Puccini U Clock to your Marantz SA7 you noted a vast improvement in all parameters of playback...........which is what an upgrade should do.

I was a very early adopter of Shakti's holographs and purchased them (2 pairs) for a fraction of their current list price and have found them indispensable in my very difficult main listening environment. Apparently, the 2014 Absolute Sound Recommended components issue also agrees even though they cannot explain the "science" of why they do work. They absolutely DO and are wondrous.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I've spent years toying around with headphones/amps/dacs/cables and still don't feel like I can say one way or the other what is best. I wish I could go somewhere and audition equipment first, but I'm in the middle of nowhere so I read a lot of forums and just purchase blind.
