Generally speaking, Lunna, since AP always uses the original master tapes and produces consistently great results, it comes down to the difference between a single layered SACD (SHM~SACD) and a hybrid (AP).

The difference in price is roughly $12+ (shipping from Japan) and of course, the quality of your playback equipment; the difference is double the price if you opt to purchase this disc from, let's say, Acoustic Sounds and/or Music Direct or Elusive disc which charges $60 for the SHM~SACD and $30 (list) for the AP version.

I'd go for the AP disc, if hard pressed!

... if the SHM-SACD was also mastered by Analogue Productions. With old analogue recordings, transfer and mastering is key.

Has anyone done a SQ comparison between the AP and SHM-SACD?

I know this question was asked about a year ago, but it was never really answered.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
