Fascinating, but I was under the impression that this website, SA-CD.net, was devoted exclusively to reviews of, you know, SACDs. Since you're just cutting and pasting from another site, why not spare yourself the effort, and the rest of us the annoyance?

If this wasn't on a SACD format it wouldn't be listed here. This is 2 disc set. one SACD and one Blu Ray.

From my MITR column (http://www.stereophile.com/content/music-round-47-recordings-round):

ANDREAS FLIFLET: Jienat Mira
Jienat JNCD002 (SACD+BD)

This one's a hoot! Mixed, mastered, and authored by Morton Lindberg of 2L in bracingly immediate 5.1-channel sound, Andreas Fliflet and his cohort of performers surrounded a pentagram of main-channel microphones so that the listener sits right in the middle of the fun, surrounded by voices, drums, and various amazing sounds. The result is music that is, at least to me, completely novel. Elements of rock, world music, and folk intertwine, and though there's a fair amount of variation from track to track, I was happiest listening to only a few at a time. Perhaps that's because the experience is so intense, or perhaps I'm just not that into nonclassical stuff. Still, I keep going back to sample another and another. As for that hoot, check out track 7, which Fliflet dedicates to his puppy, Mira.

Note that the release, like many of the 2Ls, is both SACD and BluRay.

How is the relevant to my comment? He didn't review the SACD, did he? So yes, the fact that it is available on SACD is a truly wonderful thing, but completely irrelevant to my point that reviews should be of SACDs.

OK, he should have updated his comment just for the SACD and not the original comment for the Blu Ray.

And basically, if you're using the same Universal player for the SACD/BD~A, the results are similar. It's a great album and worth adding to one's collection in you're into world music!

Highly Recommended.

SACD v. Blu-Ray is a distinction without a difference.

If that's true, then I should be able to play Blu-ray discs on my SACD player, which I cannot.

I don't understand why people make inane comments like this. (Actually, I do, but I'll give you, temporarily, the benefit of the doubt.)

Technically, steviev, there IS a difference especially since 2L recorded Mira in DXD (PCM)....in transferring to BD~A there was no PCM>DSD conversion.........just a straight PCM route.

Silly, but true!

For future reference, Acastos, just realize that Mira would not have appeared on this website's release roster had it been a BD~A, only. Very few companies release in both formats within a single release and true, not all of 2L's releases contain a BD~A disc.
