Hi Peter.
Quite a remarkable disc. Content playing and especially the outstanding quality of recording. Its made me decide to get rid of some naffs sounding discs that dont produce thisstring tone in recordings. You dont need to guess the label..Will post review when I get to know the very unusual pieces..got 13 others to play though.D

Ok, I know what Dave thinks about the sound here, are there any other opinions? Multi-channel opinions?

This came across on my system more like a really good RBCD but in well judged surround. Which means that I for one was not won over by the treble. Doesn't have the smooth richness of a PentaTone or Telarc, or Praga or SIMAX or Harmonia Mundi or half dozen others I could mention. The music on the other hand is wonderful.

It sounds great on my system in stereo. I find it extremely realistic. RGCD no way! We are very close to the small group of musicians hence a little more bite than further away but it holds together.I would say only a few mikes have been used. A more distant perspective would have been smoother perhaps revealing how small the band is but sometimes I find Telarc and Pentatone can be just a little too far away.

I agree - an impressive disc in stereo.

I don't really know how to describe it, just that I always find it quite interesting and nothing that challenges a listener like some contemporary composers do. Its all much more conservative than say Takemitsu for example, or any others whose compositional style is to emphasize texture to the exclusion or near exclusion of melody. I like it a lot, others comments on the sound make me suspicious of my Apogee speakers crossovers which I've heard benefit from a better inductor and some really high end capacitors etc. Another project, as if I don't have enough of them now!

Hi T.
Just go to the JPC website select the disc and you can listen to a few samples...It is interesting and an alternative to big theatrical symphonies...but isnt that what music is all about..Im begining to think that "demoing my hifi" is becoming the number one factor in some peoples opinions re music and reviewing. .D

there is always that danger - especially when you upgrade and have just spent perhaps considerably more on your system....
