This looks promising.

However, I've never heard of the pianist. What else has he done?

Additionally, here's a video interview of the pianist:

Pertinent to this recording, from Larderet's bio (on his website):

"Vincent Larderet studied in Paris with the great Uruguayan pianist Carlos Cebro, who passed on to him the stylistic and musical heritage of Vlado Perlemuter. He worked Ravel's piano music on Perlemuter's scores annotated after his collaboration with the composer. When it comes to shaping his interpretations, Vincent is committed to a musicological approach and he studies and analyzes music history."

Adopting a musicological approach is no guarantee of artistically satisfying results, but the brief video excerpt of Gaspard de la Nuit on Larderet's website is impressive.

Indeed so but to be pedantic, it sounds more like "Pavane pour une Infante defunte", AFAICT. : )

Prompted by your post, I just listened to the opening of the "Scarbo" movement on Liszt, Saint-Saens, Ravel - Sudbin. Allowing that it's early morning here in Northern Cal and I haven't had a cup of coffee yet, I believe that's the same piece in the Larderet promo video on his website.

ARS Produktion is one of my favorite labels and they deserve more notice. Good of you to start this thread.

Actually, I was referring to this:

The work he played during opening credits is deffo Pavane. I listened to both on:
Ravel: Complete Piano Solo Works - El Bacha

Thanks for the link to Scarbo. I wasn't aware of it. Win/win for both of us. : )

The Amazon US link shows the wrong image: it's organ music by Schmidt!

Amazon must have a central image server somewhere, as this anomaly affects Amazon globally. When I pre-ordered this title, the correct image was in place.

This must have occurred within the past 2-3 weeks. As long as the correct ASIN number is listed, it should be OK otherwise.
