Franz Halász is a superb guitarist--I eagerly await this disc's release in the States (Aug.12).

yes, he certainly is. It has been quite a long time since his last recording on BIS, if I am not mistaken. He recorded regularly 10 years ago, though. I wondered what has happened with him. Glad he is back.

I'd love to hear a new Bach recital from him on SACD--his old RBCD is wonderful.

I got a copy from the UK, and I must say that I am hugely disappointed. I love her two Violin Concertos, the Chaconne for piano, and some other works, but these pieces just don't work for me. I play classical guitar, and maybe I was hoping for more from her than either simplistic chordal strumming or the use of external devices such as a pick, bottleneck, and balls (rubber, presumably). A moot point, but the sound quality is excellent. I'll be selling mine as soon as it's available on Amazon.

To clarify, it's probably more a function of my loss of interest in such modern music rather than anything wrong with the performances--I'm sure others will thoroughly enjoy it. Oh, parts of the pieces are fine, and the Sarabande is lovely, but stylistically, the various scrapings and weird sounds in the chamber pieces as well as most of the Piano Sonata's Adagio movement being played directly on the piano's strings just isn't my cup of tea anymore.
