Well Brett, following from our previous interchanges, let's sideslip Slipknot for http://vimeo.com/74680846 as a lead-in (insightful interviews by recording and mixing team) towards talking about an interesting immersive Blu-ray concert film released earlier this year.

Yes, we've wide appreciation (beyond core 'classical' music) ? A Thread in your honour then ; now and again accounting for collecting curios capable of /support :)

And did you read http://andreweverard.com/2014/07/02/almost-everything-you-know-about-live-sound-is-wrong-time-to-go-back-to-school/ ? :
Andrew's "look behind the scenes of how monster PA systems are set-up, optimised and operated, courtesy of the really rather splendid people at Britannia Row Productions Training"

There's indeed arts to setting up (as well as capturing) 'live' performances ?

Thanks for the reply and links!

It's not real unless minds are melted. ;)

Haven't seen the Metallica movie, but I would love to hear the surround mix. Interesting discussions about all that went into mixing the recording and all the different audio systems (and blown sub-woofers! LOL) engineers have to keep in mind when putting a recording together.

As Freddie Mercury said, "I want it All!" https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hFDcoX7s6rE To enjoy all these curios (especially in surround sound), we have to avail ourselves to a wide variety of media, venues... and even places of worship!

Who would have thought...

"Oh, ...where do you think the majority of sound engineers in the USA work? In houses of worship, which increasingly have music as part of their events.

Bartlett says there are more sound engineers in the States working in churches and the like than there are in the touring industry, and Mike Lowe chips in that one of the consoles like that used in the training facility will cost maybe £125k, and will have an initial production run of 100 units a year, of which 90% will go into houses of worship. They have to have the latest equipment, you see."

From Metallica to Pink Floyd to God... working in mysterious ways and melting minds...

What's time between replies when we're good friends ? :)

Trust you're well ; I'm busy, but not oblivious...

At 5m50sec of http://vimeo.com/74680846 "first Dolby Atmos concert film" ; so 'what follows...

Yet before, in 2001, there's http://vimeo.com/32106656 (which I might make a priority to, preferably, loan [at a couple of songs per viewing...

[Need to know] how the world is ?

Yes, I prefer Vimeo over YouTube, unless...

http://youtube.com/watch?v=g-moxGaQp9k is very foreign to me.

Loved the Lady Gaga video.

Even though the Chinese government gave Pope Francis permission to fly over China (gosh...how gracious of them ;), I heard the Chinese government is trying to stop Chinese Christians from going to see the Pope during his visit to South Korea.

Maybe someone should play Poker Face http://vimeo.com/65827827 for them... LOL!
