I´m sorry, but I have no further information.
But I ordered one last week.
At the moment I have a T+A SACD 1245R. This is a good player, but the starting time between pushing the button an the beginning of music is about 20-30 seconds.
As I love to compare especially the interpretation of classical music, this is a serious handycap.

My HiFi-Dealer told me about the new McIntosh MCD 201. He compared it to this very expensive DENON player, witch he decided to be absulutely unacceptable.

I will report after delivery and first tests.

P.S.:
Please excuse my probably unusual English, I´m German and therefore not a native English speaker.

Your English is not a problem to understand.

I will look forward to your report after you have spent some time with your new disc player.

I´ve got it!
Yesterday on April, 25th 2006 my dealer brought me my new MCD 201!

What shall I tell You?

It is absolutely fantastic!

Try it with the brandnew Jaco Pastorius "The word is out" SACD Track 4!!!!!
This precisely defined bass - wow!

Then (or better before) take some well recorded piano music, probably the
Goldstein Variationen by Martin Stadtfeld (usual CD)and You will be astonished for the whole playing time of this CD.

Now, I am using a metal free van den hul cable between the player and the control center (C42). We tested also the direct connection to my poweramp MC 402. But there was not a big difference.
My hifi dealer came also with another cable (I don´t remember the details), which made some more details and precision in treble and bass.
I decided to leave some space to the top sound and did not buy this 200 Euro cable.

The big difference to my T+A 1245 SACD is the time between pushing the button and the first sound! The T+A took some 20 to 30 seconds, while the MCD starts after about 5-10 seconds.

My recommendation:
Take Your money and try to get one!

Hi inschinör

I'm thinking of improving my Mc gear on the digital source side. I currently use a MCD205, which is great. however, your new MCD201 because of the SACD ability or the new MCD1000 together with the MCA1000 could be options.

did you compare your 201 with the 1000? what about the combination of mcd201 together with the MDA1000.

I would very much like to keep my large CD collection and not to switch to an analog source.

please advice.
kind regards
b

Hallo Bfelder,

Mir macht das Gerät viel Spaß.
Ich empfehle es gerne!

Grüße in die Schweiz

der Inschinör
