Just got a copy of the original 1986 CD release of Tinderbox (it's so old, there's even a description on the back of the sleevenotes of what a CD is and how to care for it). It sounds pretty good, and it contains four bonus tracks that for some reason weren't included on the remastered version.

All of these ex-album track can be found on Downside Up (box set) except long version of Cities....

BTW, here is the presentation of DR comparison of Tinderbox: http://dr.loudness-war.info/album/list?artist=banshees&album=tinderbox

I will retain my Polydor CD from 1986 for the time being due to obvious reasons.

Ah. I guess I should just bite the bullet and fork out for that before it becomes even rarer.

My new old copy of A Kiss in the Dreamhouse should arrive tomorrow.

OK, bullet bitten. The seller was Oxfam, so instead of guilt about spending so much I can feel good about having made a charitable donation! Well, I know the music will be worth it.

with Oxfam one should be careful.....no-one knows the purposes the "charitable" donations are used for.

I did have my qualms about their position on a certain long-standing political dispute, but I read a statement on their website that seemed fairly reasonable to me (certainly more reasonable than the position of some of my more left-wing friends). Perhaps I'm being naive.

I would rather join the naive camp then.....its more attractive than hateful right-wing camp. Charitable act might not be as charitable as it seems at first sight. :-)

Unfortunately, those on the Left in my part of the world often end up supporting hateful right-wing organizations (that they disagree with on every point apart from their particular hatred) in other parts.

That's their way of life even here, Simon. No wonder the world looks like it is right now. But still I would rather join Ron Paul than sen. McCain (Hawk of the Hawks). Sense fled the territory of the West, unfortunately.
