The old Deutsche Grammophon's recordings on multi-channel SACD! I'm looking forward... Any comments?

I confirm : released last Saturday according to Pentatone website. Now ordered. I'll tell you what I think about it, but this would have to be biased as I'm an Ozawa fan.

For what it's worth--- I am definitely NOT an Ozawa fan, but his DG Ravel recordings are highlighted by gorgeous music making. I doubt that I'll replace my BBCD twofer, but ya never know......

I'm listening to this now and it sounds lovely. It is a delight to hear BSO from 1974 in such warm performances. This is probably the best Ozawa ever did on record.

Many thanks for this most encouraging insight, Thomas. I'm now looking forward receiving it even more ! Can't wait to hear it !

I was quite busy and only intended to listen to Le Tombeau... but I couldn't press the stop button and listened to the whole disc. The orchestra is so gorgeous it's almost unbelievable - magic, pure magic!

And what about the transfers?
Assuming you, like me, already had the LPs and knew they were both musically and SQ wise very good coming from DGG in the mid 70s.
Do you hear any improvement over the LPs?
Cheers,Chris currently on a very refreshing diet of mainly live music in Singapore and KL.
Three concerts in as many days and the next one on Tuesday.

This is terribly retrograde of me, I know, but how does this sound in two-channel? (I don't currently own this recording in any format.)

Tom, I wasn't familiar with this recording either, but it sounds beautiful in stereo. A warm and spacious recording with lovely string tone. A little traffic rumble in places but nothing to worry about.
In some ways it reminds me of listing to an LP on a top quality turntable, cohesive, slightly rounded, but none the worse for that, and without the usual attendant artefacts of course.
Vaan has it right when he describes it as 'magic'. The type of disc to play late of an evening, a beautiful way to end the day.
