I agree this is a wonderful recording :-) But I have this one : Mahler: Symphony No. 2 - Mehta The question recently arose whether it is worth having as it became OOP (/showthread/124762//y?page=first) and it even derived on a splendid diggression regarding the SHM SA-CD techno-marketing controversy, wheareas the subject was the musical beauty of this OOP recording and how good the remaster is.
Do you own this SA-CD as well ? If so, please tell whether the Blu-ray is worth a double dipping ? I'm envisaging buying this BD too. I know I shouldn't hesitate for such a cheap duplicate ; and I'm not greedy, but I have a hollow wallet so I count every penny. Bought the much more expensive SHM SA-CD because I love this collection (generally trustworthy, remasters are good) and I really wanted this 2nd Symphony to finally complete my collection of the 6 symphonies I had on SHM SA-CD.

I would just buy the BD and call it a day.

When and by whom was the BD-A mastered?
The SACD was mastered by Classic Sound (former Decca engineers) and is probably extremely close to the sound of the master tape.
If the BD-A was mastered like the Rachmaninov piano concerto collection, it's likely to sound very good as well:

Only if it was mastered from the old 24/96 Universal Classics archives made 10 years ago I would have my doubts about the quality.
