He might be referring to the small booklet. Allman Brothers Band: Brothers and Sisters came with a 4-page booklet inside with the disk. The Grateful Dead: American Beauty and this Pretenders release don't have a booklet. They only have the disk and the thick paper discussing Ultradisc UHR. There isn't much info.

It's pretty easy to confuse these MoFi SACDs with their RBCDs. There is just that little SACD emblem on the back cover and the catalog number. A couple of times I have grabbed a MoFi disk at the music shop, thinking it was an SACD, and almost bought it...only to discover it was a RBCD.

Good sounding disk, btw. :)

I was a bit confused, Brett, so thanks for the clarification. Oh well, you can always grab the booklet from the old Pretenders RBCD and do a switcheroo.

Out of the blue, I played the Feeder mch SACD last night and wow, some great tunes. Forgot I even had it.
I suppose it was part of my buying frenzy after they stopped making DVD~As and I was reading that SACDs were slowly going OOP and had to play catchy up.

I tell everyone. When I die, just get a giant cement truck, place me in my mancave sweet spot lounge chair and start pouring and seal me in with all my music and audio possessions.

And then sell the house as a one level! NO basement. And the house shall be forever cursed by the ghost of mummypie.

Actually, I think he was talking about the disk's info...(track titles) not being displayed on his SACD player. But...the track titles are displayed just fine when I play it on mine. So, I don't know what's up.

What a mausoleum!? Sounds like something out of an Edgar Allen Poe story. I can just see Vincent Price starring in it... Fall of the House of Rusher. Or.. The Tomb of Rammeia... LOL!

Feeder? You mean this one...Feeder: Comfort in Sound?

I've never heard of it. What's that Godzilla all about? I heard a few samples on the net. That ain't Blue Oyster Cult. ;-)

Yeah, THAT Feeder. Bought it from AmazonUK back in 2008 (just checked) and I also saw that out of 91 reviews, the average score was 4 1/2*. A very fine album but AmazonUS is now charging $426 + s/h.....outrageous but also OOP. AmazonCA is charging in US dollars $654. I paid under $20 delivered for it way back then. It's actually quite melodic but then Godzilla chimes in and has that heavy metal vibe. Blue Oyster cult??????

There's a lot of weird sh*t on SACD...the Canadian SONGLINES Jazz catalog has some doozies.....and are also quite discreet.

Just played the SHM~SACD of John Lennon's Plastic Ono Band. Universal did a great job although it has been reported that Yoko's remixes of the Lennon catalog are superior and were not utilized for these 2014 remasters. Sounds fine to me. They were replicated from the 2010 96/24 remasters. Also have Imagine on BD~A, another fine sounding disc but that's my Lennon fix for the time being.

I just read all the positive reviews about Feeder over on amazon UK. There goes another band that completely slipped under my radar. Sounds interesting, though. Maybe one day I'll come across a cheap used copy with a nice patina.

Yeah...there's also weird stuff on SACD here in Tokyo... Anime and stuff. There are some decent jazz recordings...and some that are not. ;) The so-called "Idol" girl/boy groups are so big here...AKB48, Arashi, and all the K-Pop, etc... I hear so much of them on TV and around town...I don't need to buy any. But, Perfume might sound cool in surround. Anyway, I really need to pick up the Kitaro SACDs.

I'm trying out The Grateful Dead: American Beauty tonite. I am sure Fausto is lovin this one. It sounds great!

You know things are crazy when I am cleaning around house today from 2 weeks of Christmas and New Years chaos and I decide to straighten up the work bench in garage and there is what I thought was an empty Amazon envelope and oops:

MOFI Hybrid SACD Pretenders is just sitting unnoticed. Original card board gate fold with original liner notes that say Play this Album Loud.

Give it a listen in awhile after I finish Johnny Winter's, Second Winter, Blu- Spec CD2, sounds pretty good, vocals at high range a touch over modulated but still a real good disc.

I am too lazy to write proper review of The Pretenders Mofi Hybrid SACD.

My McIntosh reads at SACD, Stereo, PCM, 88.2Khz. Definitely not RBCD.

I listened via HDMI outs.

Awesome disc, sounds perfect. Lots of bass to the point I turned off my sub for a bit, and outside of losing sub ambiance, this disc is stellar.

Rock with punk infusion and Chrissie Hynde, whats not to like. Buy it.

Well, I'm still awaiting my "wings" and a 5.1 mix of the Pretenders.

I fly into JFK semi regularly.

Someone help me. How can my impression of this release be so different to what has been written?

Honestly? I find it mushy, bloated and dull - and that is after having to turn the level up far higher than I normally have to.

I find it hard to make out a snare drum or cymbal in most tracks. It would make perfect sense if that's the way the master tape sounds, but I have just been through the 2 CD remaster and that sounds completely different (better all round to my ears).

What am I missing? My opinions aren't usually that far from those of others. I daren't write a review yet although I think this release deserves as much honesty as any other.

This shouldn't stop you from writing a review. We're not aiming for consensus here, just honest opinions. Personally the negative reviews are the ones I read first.
