Well, Markie, since you're in your Beach Boys/Brian Wilson vibe how about investing in the fabulous Brian Wilson Live At The Roxy Theater DVD~A 5.1 in absolutely stunning DISCRETE sonics?

And yes Brian Wilson, Live At The Roxy DVD~A 5.1 is stunning. I thought it would be a little weird at first getting a live recording in surround with no video, but the audio and Brian's interaction is so captivating with the audience that I didn't feel like I was missing anything.

He plays a good number of tunes and quite a few from Pet Sounds, so I popped in my MOFI issue just for an education on studio vs live, and I must say the live DVD~A is far better than the studio SACD.

I feel very happy to be on a Brian Wilson education at present, he is a very cool person, humble, real, and at the very least SUPER TALENTED.

Listening now for the first time the new AF SACD 4.0 of Loggins and Messina, you will be in for a quad treat, really good.

Then by ALL means, Markie, invest in the 5.1 (actually, 4.0) of Pet Sounds either on DVD~A* or BD~A!

They took those MONO tapes and expanded the soundstage immeasurably....wildly discrete!

You WON"T be disappointed!

{*DVD~A contains the MONO, Stereo and 5.1 (4.0) remixes on ONE disc).

I've been revisiting older RBCDs and just revitalized (treated) Blood, Sweat and Tears 3.....in my opinion, a tremendously great album. Sounds fantastic on MY system. VERY soulful and jazzy! The reviews on Amazon are bullshit. An overlooked GEM!

It seems the Pet Sounds Blu Ray is not yet released?

Now I'm off the Beach Boys and going down a Blow by Blow 5.1 Japanese SACD, can't beat it, top 5 on my surround list.

After watching Jeff Beck's Rock and Roll Party, another genius.

Brian Wilson and Jeff Beck together in the studio, now that's a thought.

Robert Plant said that Prince and Jimmy Page should give it a go.

Am going to see Tears For Fears tomorrow night at our local Capitol theater. Wonder if it'll be in 9.1 AURO 3D (yeah, RIGHT)!

I've been digging deep into my 5.1 collection recently and played John William's haunting and very discrete soundtrack to frequent collaborator Steven Spielberg's film A.I. (Artificial Intelligence).

Stanley Kubrick was supposed to direct A.I. but never did so Spielberg stepped in and created what I consider one of his rare science fiction masterworks....a retelling of the Pinocchio story with a twist.

Warner Brother's splendid MLP DVD~A 5.1 which is still available from AmazonUS (new and used) is definitely worth seeking out. DVD~A mastered by Bob Ludwig at Gateway Mastering.

GREAT concert. LOUD as hell but hey, it just goes to show that the boys haven't lost any of their solid vocal skills. I left the theater a little off balance (loss of equilibirum) but with a happy smile.

Received the DVD~A 5.1/RBCD of Ian Cooke's Antiquasauria today and from the VERY positive QQ reviews I should be in for a treat.

I listened to the multichannel mix of Rattle That Lock last night and I liked it. It seems to divide opinion, but I certainly prefer it to On An Island and The Endless River and will play it sometime soon once again :)

Sounds like the Live show is still the one to beat Ralph...especially when followed by some cosy ear candy at home...

Watched the Brian Wilson biopic Love & Mercy last night and it was NOT what I expected. The acting by all concerned was first rate but it mainly dealt with Wilson's abusive father, abusive 'handler,' Dr. Eugene Landy, dissension among the various BB band mates and of course touched on Wilson's genius and descent into madness/obesity.

Those expecting a cheery biopic will be sadly disappointed.

BTW, Our loving friend Brett (Lute) has defected to QuadraphonicQuadforum.

We're still here, Brett.....if only until the plug on the forum is officially pulled.

Pay us a visit. It's a gray world without you.

Coming October 30th: The newly expanded Yes "Fragile" Steve Wilson 5.1 remaster on BD~A/RBCD and King Crimson's "Thrak" (DVD~A/RBCD)....on October 16th (UK release dates). Also (Oct. 30th): Opeth: Deliverance (Steve Wilson 5.1 remix) and Damnation (5.1 mix by Bruce Soord) 4 disc set (2 DVD~A/2 RBCD)

Can't wait!

Addenda: Highly recommend the RBCD of Keith Richards new album Crosseyed Heart. On my system it sounds fantastic.....totally uncompressed and almost audiophile. Good job, Keith.

Will give the new Nirvana BD~A (14 cuts, some previously unreleased) a spin tonight. http://www.hraudio.net/showmusic.php?title=10898

I saw Queensryche and Scorpions last night in San Jose. One of top 5 live shows of my all time, Scorpions where just plain great. I saw Scorpions in 92? Monsters Of Rock Tour and they where better 20 years later.

Interesting assertion when compared to the DR values on here:

They have squeezed quite a bit of life out of the recording. One thing it is not: uncompressed. May still sound good though ...
