Ditto, hoop.

Should sound great and hope it is in multichannel as the Blue Coast Site mentions nothing about multi but the HRAudio site does and all of her previous albums have been multi.

The Fiona Joy albums on Blue Coast are Stereo DSD and Stereo SACD, not Multichannel.

Great links, Arell.

The Wall will, IMHO, be one of the most anticipated releases in 5.1 history (that's if the Beatles catalogue in 5.1 doesn't beat Guthrie to the punch.....although, NOT likely).

Since NO timetable for The Wall's release is imminent, I suspect we'll have it by 2017 at the earliest....based on the difficulty Guthrie has endured with the poor condition of The Wall's master tapes (shake and bake).

Meanwhile, we can content ourselves with the upcoming WALL documentary on BD~V! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smMsPb99Alc

I have actually heard a 4.0 mix of The Wall, most likely a download of dubious origin. Surround effects were quite good but, according to my memory, overall sound quality rather muddy. There seems to be a lot of unofficial surround mixes out there on the web of very differring quality. Wonder how they are done.

I once bought a DVD containing surround mixes of Kraftwerk's studio albums and although the guy in shop said he couldn't confirm the provenance, said I could return it if I didn't like it - thanks goodness!

When I played them in surround sound, it seemed like software had been used to filter higher frequencies to the rear channels with reverb added on top to make if seem more surround-like, but it was poor quality and I took it back that same day. Indeed, I felt my AVR at the time did a better job at upmixing stereo into 5.1 and even then, I didn't like its faux surround.

I've been listening to Diana Krall again and as her latest album, Wallflower is a bit expensive on SACD, bought it on vinyl (only £10 at time of ordering) and praise be, it comes with a redemption code entitling the owner to download the album in MP3 and 24/48 - which I feel is pretty good as it caters for those who want to listen to the album on the go and/or listen to it via a hifi system.

£10 for a double vinyl album with MP3 and 24/48 downloads means I have bang for buck and choices - and no longer need to buy an expensive SACD :)

Derek........a lot of the Silverline DVD~A 5.1s (?) were much maligned because of their attempt at faux surround.

Ironically, a lot of them sound great (some even superb) in stereo....the format in which they were originally released and at 96/24 resolution.

I'm becoming somewhat of a purist as I now play most of my stereo SACDs and even RBCDs in DIRECT MODE without adding DSP to the mix. The difference in clarity is sometimes staggering (w/o the faux surrounds).

I'm the same Ralph: I always play stereo and multichannel in Pure Direct mode (although I assume my AVR still implements delay to ensure front and rear channel deliver music in harmony); and faux surround? I just do go there.

GREAT deal, Derek. Do you like the album? I paid about $20 delivered for the SACD.

How is the quality of the vinyl pressing, BTW?

I like the album, although not as much as I like her other albums (the other SACDs) which seem more suited to her style of playing and singing.

$20 delivered is a terrific price and if I could buy it at that price I would, but unfortunately current prices at Amazon are a few pounds over the UK VAT import threshold, so if I ordered at £20 delivered, it might eventually cost £35 delivered.

The vinyl is good with very little static and the album's currently on display in my LP display frame - she's looking at me right now :)

I cannot believe the import tax you are paying. Perhaps we should stop complaining in the states about our taxes (especially property taxes). I just ordered the entire HBO Television series "The Wire." 20 BD~Vs for $60 ($3 per disc)! This includes Prime shipping. Comes in a sturdy box, as well. If you recall, Analogue Productions (Acoustic Sounds) charges $100 for the box, alone, to contain their SACD/VINYL boxsets. Ridiculous!!!!!!

What is it about the music industry which inspires GREED?

Yep, BDV offers so much more bang for buck - great choice of TV boxset btw; arguably the greatest TV series ever made...ever!
