Gosh, what mixed opinions.
I have listened again and again, and tried to be underwhelmed, but it just overwhelms me every time.
I listened for Asylum 'going flat', but it just doesn't - to my ears anyway.
My Cambridge Audio player's prefered mode is 24bit/192kHz. In fact it upsamples everything to this (even SACDs). Perhaps this could be why some people are not hearing what I am ??
If COTC is released on SACD, I will jump on it, but for now I am satified with the BluRay.
Which Cambridge Audio BDP do you have?
Mine (651BD Azur) "only" upsamples SACD to 88.2k (when player is set to do the conversion to PCM) but it streams BD's @24/192 'as is' no problem, including this one.. just curious.
Thanks in advance!

Hi fredblue. Sorry I should have been more specific.
Cambridge Audio Azur 752 BD
"Anagram Q5 192 kHz upsampling technology, to upsample all audio to 24-bit/192kHz output"
Analog Devices ADSP-21261 32 bit SHARC(R) DSP running Anagram Technologies (TM) Q5 upsampling to 24-bit/192kHz
that's what it quotes on their website anyway.
(And, yes, it IS one of those that converts to PCM. It can send DSD down the HDMI but I don't have the right amp for that).
I was astonished to find that an audio compressor was turned ON as default. Any time it does a firmware update and factory resets, I need to turn the blumming thing off again.
Apart from that ..... love it.
Cheers

Thank you so much for all the detail, I'm intrigued, really appreciate it :)

I should correct myself. The Dynamic range control is not ON by default, it's 'auto'.
from user manual: "Auto – Play at the dynamic range specified by the disc. This option applies to Blu-ray Discs only. For other disc types no dynamic range compression is applied."
... so I guess for SACDs etc it will be OFF - just as I like it.

The Azur 752BD user manual talks about Dynamic Range Control:
There are 3 settings on, off, auto:
"Auto – Play at the dynamic range specified by the disc. This option applies to Blu-ray Discs only. For other disc types no dynamic range compression is applied."
I didn't know a blu-ray could specify a dynamic range !
Surely these "Pure Audio" ones don't have this ?????????
