Mozarts: Complete Piano Concertos

Interesting to read all these wishes. And frustrating, actually.
Yes, everything should be available in high-res and it isn't. But, instead of wishing for the impossible (the Mozart quoted is, however, only a couple of records from being completed), what would all of you say about

ACTUALLY LISTENING TO AND BUYING/REVIEWING/DISCUSSING what IS being released????

The rest of the answer has been transferred to the BIS thread.

they uniformly excellent. It makes one completely reimagine these works in exactly the same magnificent way as Brautigam's Beethoven sonata cycle.

Agreed. There's nothing of the chocolate box about this Mozart.

I would have liked to have seen that live performance. I would think that would have been a one-off considering it's complexity, correct?

BTW, I've discovered prestoclassical have the 16/44.1 FLAC file of the 2004 remaster of the RBCD, as well as the 320 Kbp/s mp3.

I plan to download the FLAC file and process it for 24/176.4 FLAC, as I typically do for the most important works.

Hi Ian

May I ask why you would want to up-sample this to 24/176?

If this is for the purposes of (PCM) streaming I think you may find that most digital streamers will actually up-sample the source in line (be it 16bit, 24bit, 44.1, 88.2, 96 kHz etc), if needed, prior to the DAC stage to ensure that the DAC only needs to convert a consistent bit/sample stream, usually 24/192.

At least that is my understanding of how most digital streamers work.

Also, you can't add to what is not there.

Unfortunately Universal Music has lost the Multichannel tapes of the A&M Catalog. So any Rick Wakeman reissues will be Stereo only.

Well, they've managed to do a surround SACD by the Carpenters, so they could always mix new surround. I guess I will never hear the quad version of Now And Then ever again. I attempted to buy the quad reel back in the day from Japan but was told they couldn't export it.

It seems to me that the emphasis of recording new SACD at present has shifted well away from orchestral core repertory possibly because the recording companies sense that most of it has been adequately served with fine recordings over the last 15 years with inevitable waning interest of collectors.

New ways of consuming music seems to have allowed them to record far more fringe repertory than was possible before under the constraint of a market restricted to physical SACD adopters.

As long as recording houses continue to include physical-disc SACD in their array of product offers we should rejoice in our good fortune.
