There are many compositions that are unavailable on SACD - specifically on multi-channel. Here are my own wishes:
- Mahler, Gustav: Symphony No. 10 (Cooke, 1976 version)
- Weber, Carl Maria von: Der Freishutz
- Sibelius, Jean: Scaramouche, Op. 71 - tragic pantomime´
- Tchaikovsky, Pjotr: The Queen of Spades, Op. 68
- Vieuxtemps, Henri: Violin Concertos Nos. 4 & 5

Let's hope that Pentatone will re-release Rostropovich recording of Tchaikovsky "Pique Dame" in their REMASTERED CLASSICS series - as well as Kleiber's legendary account of Weber's "Der Freishutz".
I also hope that Okko Kamu will record Sibelius' "Scaramouche" for BIS. Gergiev should concludes his Mahler cycle with Mahler's completed Tenth.

The old "repertoire gaps" thread has lots of basic stuff that still hasn't been covered. I may have to post something there soon to bump that thread back up to the top.

What about this:

Weber: Der Freischütz - Davis

I have this. Recording (5.1) is excellent but tempi are too slow. Kleiber is still the best.

More to your liking would be the Kubelik recording of DER FREISCHÜTZ contained in the boxed set "5 Great Operas on Deutsche Grammophon & Decca" Not as slow as Davis, but not as fast as Kleiber.

There now are two BD-Vs:
— the film "HUNTER'S BRIDE" which is an opera film, but in good sound under the baton of Daniel Harding
— Harnoncourt's performance in Zürich, which is on the same disc with FIDELIO and GENOVEFA.

I second your nomination of PIQUE DAME for the Remastered release. It's a wonderful recording in stereo, and I'd love to hear it in multi-channel.

Yes - agree totally. We need Emerson Lake and Palmer's "Works vol 1" on SACD with MCH audio option. I'm aware that this album is not generally seen as one the groups highlights, but to be able to listen to a decent version of Keith Emerson's "Piano Concerto no.1" would be great.

Whether it'll ever happen is another thing!

- Klami, Uuno: Kalevala Suite
- Rautavaara, Einojuhani: Violin Concerto, Symphony No. 8 "Journey"
- Sibelius, Jean: Pelléas et Melisande, King Christian II: Suites for orchestra, Scénes historiques Nos. I & II

Vaughn Williams 7 and 9.

And Job too. The equal of any of the symphonies IMO. I was rather hoping by now that Chandos would have delivered on the 7th and 9th.
One would expect that Andrew Davis would be game. I heard him conduct a cracking performance of the 9th last year.
