Hmm. So, I wonder who doesn't like this. Would it have to do with the album art? I, for one, like the artwork, but there have been people here who have complained about something because of the album art.

People who haven't heard it?

Well, someone here doesn't like it. That is clear from the 0 out of 1 vote on it.

Well, here's a review from Dan Morgan (Mahlerei, used to post here), who clearly does like it: http://www.musicweb-international.com/classrev/2015/Mar/Nielsen_sys26_BIS2128.htm

This series is sensational and the best for many years. In his review Castor mentiones the generous reverberation and it is a bit disturbing since this is not something I hear during concerts there.

I find the Concert Hall in Stockholm acoustically a rather "warm" and not very reverberant hall.
I have attended probably hundreds of concerts there since many years, both with Oramo and many other conductors long before his tenure.
And although I like the Nielsen series interpretatively the sound captured by some BIS engineers in the Nielsen´s symphonies is not quite as warm as I am used to hearing music played live in that hall.

The best sound from BIS recently again, imo and via my systems, comes from Berwaldhallen where Tore Brinkmann has captured both the voice of Miah Persson and Katarina Karnéus and the SRSO very realistically indeed.
I find absolutely nothing to complain about, neither interpretatively nor SQ wise, and feel only great joy when listening to Miah Persson's album Sempre libera.
Two other halls where BIS have recorded quite a lot and where the results imo better reflect the actuall hall acoustics are The Petronas Hall in KL and the Esplanade Concert Hall in Singapore.
Imo the warm acoustics of the Petronas hall are very realistically captured in the recordings I have from there. Sadly they don't record that orchestra any longer.
Much to the sorrow of many musicians there I can report.
And apart from all the problems they face they are still a very good orchestra.
Luckily BIS still record in Singapore and I hope they will stick to the Esplanade hall for their future recordings in Singapore. The SSO's newly refurbished offical home Victoria Hall is a splendid Victorian building, but nowhere near the Esplanade hall acoustically.
Nevertheless I heard the perhaps most exiting live Beethoven ninth since Karajan's in the Musikverein in 1970,there recently.
Alan Gilbert's Beethoven concerts in Stockholm seemed tame in comparison to Lan Shui's.
I am waiting for his Beethoven nine from Orchid.
If he whips the Danes anywhere near the speeds Beethoven indicated in the finale, and he certainly did live in Singapore with the SSO,that could be the Beethoven ninth of my dreams.
Part one is already out. Have you heard it?

No I haven't, but it surely sounds exciting.

The more I listen to this recording the more I like it, impeccable performances technically and emotionally coupled with one of the most life-like acoustics I have heard on disc, every instrument exactly in place and to scale for a real front of hall experience and this 'only' in stereo. Good stereo mind you.
