Presto Classical has a superb website and you may do well to study elements of theirs as a model

I can't say I agree. What about a disc with a small filler by another composer? The intention is to show discs with one or more works by the selected composer. People can then follow the link for fuller information. Anyway the data/function hasn't changed, just the presentation. The fact that you were unaware of this functionality shows how important design/navigation is in getting the most from the site.

The search function on this site has several unhelpful limitations, which I hope could be addressed in your upgrade. First, correct me if I'm wrong, but the maximum composer search appears to be limited to 100, which is unfortunate when one is searching Beethoven, for example. Second, the search by composer by work is unreliable, both bringing up unrequested works and failing to obtain some of the requested works. Use of outside search engines, such as Google, are more reliable in this regard.

The Arkivmusic website has a convenient composer search, which lists the composer's works (or many of them) that are in the database and may be selected for drill down. This site allows drill down within the 100-album limitation, but does not list the composer's works in the database. The naming conventions for works in the site's database have never been entirely clear to me and appear to follow whatever convention is used by the album's creator.

Emulating the drill down capability of Arkivmusic site would obviate any need to separate out multiple-composer albums in the database of a single composer. Without that capability viewers are often forced to wade through an excessive number of albums.

I hope this criticism will be taken as constructive, as we are aware of your sensitivities. Perhaps such a reprogramming is a task that you have not contemplated or would require excessive time and expense. Would suggest, however, that merely changing the GUI will not address the above-noted issues.

Beautiful work. Looks great on my Mac desktop (Safari). Hope it can be launched soon!

Will 64-bit functionality be an issue in the site redesign?

No.

Maybe if/when SA-CD.net Mark II is complete Presto can use it as a model on how to get off the desktop.

Please "report errors" or email me so that I can get to work!

OK. Try searching, e.g., "Mahler Symphony 4" and see what turns up. The problems are not errors. Rather, it's the lack of a good search engine. The proposed changes to the GUI aren't going to fix that, nor is there any "error," as such, for you to address.

Here's a tip. Don't use Search for classical works. Use the Composers/Works/Recordings pages instead:

Gustav Mahler - Symphony No. 4 in G major

Is there any way you could highlight one's library entries when looking at the thumbnails? That way, we can see titles we own in contrast to those we dont without going to our individual libraries. nice job.

edit. looks like you did do that. I saw the check marks on titles I own. This is a fantastic feature.
