One of my all time favorites
Victoria de los Angeles, Songs of the Auvergne http://wmg.jp/artist/victoriadelosangeles/WPCS000013219.html
Are there any other SACD’s of this work out there? Opinions, comments, recommendations are welcome.
Vahe
The "classic" recording is Natalia Davrath on an OOP Vanguard/Omega Classics 2-channel release, which I believe has appeared at various times as a DualDisc and an SACD -- as best I recall. A truly stunning recording in any case.
Multichannel SACD is a likewise OOP from Naxos, with Veronica Gens as soloist. Very nice also!

There's the Vanguard SACD - Canteloube: Songs of the Auvergne - Davrath, and the Silverline Dualdisc, the latter with questionable surround sound (likely an upmix).
Both of these are only volume 1, though. The disc to get is the Classic Records HDAD DVD-Audio, which has both volumes in excellent sound. The best way to get it by far is at Acoustic Sounds, which is selling a 13-disc "CDAD CHDD SET" including these discs for $29.99.

I like the 2 Naxos cd's best. Veronique Gens French singing is spot on for these gems. The sound is also excellent. Being French I can understand what she is singing about perfectly which is not the case for the other versions mentioned.

Seeing that the Naxos SACD is now worth 500€, I'm not sure I can still take the risk of taking my copy out of the shelf and playing it.

I feel stupid for having to ask, English is not my first language, so let me ask what is OOP?

Out of print. Took me some time as well to work out. Sometimes written as NLA, no longer available.

So strange that the DVD-A sells for $11 new.

That's true but like many lengthy compilations of songs - even these - they can out-stay their welcome.
Both the Naxox & Vanguard discs are excellent and beautifully recorded. As a Francophile and frequent visitor the songs have a particular nostalgic appeal for me.
OOP discs such as these are often quoted at high prices but it is doubtful anybody actually buys at those prices. As they say, why worry if you miss a bus another will come along soon enough!

Look again through the proper channels on this site. Amazon.com sells it for one zero less (50, not 500, used) and Amazon.fr for less than 10 euros (occasion). Catch the bus while you can!
