Thomas Dausgaard and SCO continues their ongoing "Opening Doors" with Mendelssohn's "A Midsummer Night's Dream". We haven't many SACDs of the work, so the disc will be warmly welcomed among the audience.
Here is the booklet: http://www.bis.se/bis_pages/PDF/_booklet/BIS-2166_booklet.pdf

I approve of the "Incidental Music" approach - I don't want the spoken parts, and it's nice to get more than the suites (for which there's of course a lot of vintage competition, starting with Mendelssohn: Symphony No. 4, The Hebrides - Szell ).

Mendelssohn: Midsummer Night's Dream - Kristjan Järvi is full-length, with what appears to be spoken text. Reviews here aren't great, but hiredfox loved it.

Yes, I am looking forward to this one, along with the Copland disc. It's a shame that Bis distribution to the US occurs months after the discs are available in the EU.

That would have been better if he had included in the comparison the Ozawa Boston DG recording with Shakespeare text beautifully spoken by Judi Dench, which is one of my favourite Mendelssohn records.
