To RNelson (who posted a review but in fact should have asked his question in the forum):

Your disc is a CD.

The Rolling Stones SACD titles have been reissued as CDs. If the packaging says "DSD remastered", it's the CD version. The CDs are sold in jewel cases, the SACDs in digipaks.

Unfortunately there is a lot of confusion in stores between the CD and SACD versions. The SACDs are out of print and some titles are now hard to find.

This is on sale at Amazon UK clearly stating its SACD format. For 5.99£???? Really?

Amazon's product description is wrong. The item for sale is the DSD remastered CD, not the hybrid SACD. The most recent review (February 2012) states that this is the case - even though the product description says it's the SACD version. Unfortunately, Amazon are a bit sloppy by not rectifying their product description.

I've seen a few Rolling Stones 2002 SACDs sell for about £10 on ebay, so keep an out on there if you want to buy any.

Thanks. We have a monthly record fair in my local civic centre. Doubtful, but going in August for SACDs. Who knows, may end up getting a vinyl!

I would never have guessed that the Rolling Stones SACDs would end up valuable collectors items as when in-print they were available at every record and department store (Tower, WalMart, KMart, etc.). They went through many pressings and overwhelmed the SACD pressing plants, tying them up for months at a time. I'm sure there are millions of copies of each of the Rolling Stones SACDs out there.

I would never have guessed that when they were ready to repress them once again they would repress them as DSD mastered CDs. I have heard a story that Abkco couldn't get a firm time commitment to repress them again as SACDs and pressed them as CDs which could be done quickly.

If I only knew to buy 1000's of each title back when the Rolling Stones SACDs were pretty cheap I could be rich now. My guess is the people selling them brand new now had such foresight.

Not really. I don't think you'd be able to sell 1000's at a significantly higher price (offer vs demand), especially now that the albums are available as hi-rez downloads with the same mastering.

Maybe it's just me but I have some of those Rolling Stones hi-rez downloads and compared to the same SACD, I like the SACD better. Downloads just sounds cold and sterile.

After a quick google, it looks like hdtracks.com have a few available for download. They may also be available for download elsewhere.
