You can add Musical Fidelity to the list:

Musical Fidelity doesn't fit into the black list.

Personally, I think more attention needs to be given to the record labels in terms of SACD support. Beyond classical and jazz albums, there is a serious lack of SACD music, and it's preventing mainstream acceptance of the SACD format.

We need urge record label that do not publish using the SACD format to do so, and we need to continue supporting those who do publish SACDs. Manufacturers develop products based on what they perceive the public wants. If SACD disc sales grow, manufacturers will adjust their players accordingly.

Agreed.

I buy SACDs weekly. What's more, I usually buy two (or even three) copies of every title - one for me and the other one for my girlfriend.

My mistake. This player certainly wasn't on display at either of the Musical Fidelity dealers I've visited this year. When I asked one of them about the absence of an SACD player (they used to have the TriVista), I was told that MF had decided not to support the format any more because they felt that they could make CD players that sound just as good as their SACD players.

I like to see Btyston added to the list, They offer long term warranty for their products and warranty is onething that we all need with these players.
I also like to see audio only CD/SACD players.

I don't understand the purpose of this list. Isn't it true that if you're shopping for a SACD player, you just won't buy from these people _anyway_?

I mean, one of my favourite CD player manufacturers -- Rega -- would be on this list, but I'm not going to blacklist them just because they've decided it's not within their financial interests to market a SACD player.

Why make a list of companies to avoid -- a list of companies (and models!) to shop from would be much more useful.

PS: it seems that the upcoming YBA Design YM501 multiformat player (part of their "budget" Y products) will play SACD.

dvda-sacd, thanks for the "more useful" white list; it's actually quite a long one.

Concerning Musical Fidelity: its stance on SACD has been somewhat confusing and contradictory over the last few years. Doesn't build confidence.
