A question for Nick Cummins, whose review of this makes me interested in obtaining it, having just watched the movie on a VCR tape. My question (please don't laugh too hard at my ignorance) When we have a "soundtrack" does that mean all the dialog or only the music played during the movie?

You were right when you said it was pretty grim stuff and if this has the dialog with no way of selecting it out on replay, I will look elsewhere for my sampling of Marin Marias

Thanks

Hi Snowman!
there is no dialogue on the SACD it is only the music. Its worthwhile getting as the sound is pretty good.
Cheers
Nick

I had this playing Saturday morning through the garden speakers while I watered the nice plants and ripped out the weeds. Grim? Nah, very pleasant music for very pleasant weather. If you enjoyed the movie, you'll enjoy the disc (I've been on the verge of ordering the DVD for over a year, since the visuals are so stunning). My only complaint might be the brassy Lully fanfare which opens the disc: not in the same mood as the rest.

don't tell me you have a surround sound system in your garden, beagle?!

that would be truly impressive. do you use gnomes as stands for the speakers?

Just stereo on cheap speakers -- but if I open the window to the livingroom, I guess that provides a kind of subwoofer.... 'Tis good enough when the weather's fair; Shostakovich Symphs are good for stabbing dandelions, Marais for lazing on the bridge over the pond.
